Mrs. Sims has been teaching Art in Hart county for the past
eighteen years. Although in the past she has taught students
at Munfordville, Bonnieville, and Cub Run in the District for the
past ten years she has just taught at Munfordville. In education
she was honored as "Elementary Art Teacher of the Year for
2003-2004", "Middle School Art Teacher of the Year for 2010-2011"
and "Special Needs Teacher of the Year for 2015-2016". by the
Kentucky Art Educators Association. She has also been honored by
the Hart County Chamber of Commerce with "Teacher of the Year"
in 2008. In 2007 she earned her National Board Certification in Art
for Early Childhood through Adolescents.
Along with being a teacher she is a working artist with her
artwork in galleries in Bowling Green and Louisville. Mrs. Sims also
is an Associate Professor of Art for Western Kentucky University.
Mrs. Sims has served on the Education Advisory Committee for
SKYPAC, Performing Arts Center in Bowling Green, KY. She is also
on the Board of Directors for KyAEA. Mrs. Sims continues to work
toward bringing art and artist to our community and county. Mrs. Sims
is co-owner of Sims Studios and Art Shop in Horse Cave with her
husband, artist, Jesse Sims and they have one son, Draven who is going to WKU.
The mission for my students is to enhance their learning through the
arts. To give my students exposure to various forms of art that they
create and to let them have an understanding of various works of art
from throughout history. The arts enrich our lives and leave lasting
impressions that should be embraced - without art life would be boring.
